Ukraine and Lithuania have agreed on the joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced after a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabriela Landsbergis in Kiev.
“We devoted a large part of our conversation to determining joint steps to increase the production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Lithuania has the technology and we can increase production. That was the main topic. There is a clear understanding.” “What, how and when to do for Ukrainian and Lithuanian cooperation in the production of drones would bring the maximum result in a short time,” Kuleba said on Saturday at a joint press conference with Landsbergis.
He added that during the talks with the Lithuanian colleague, the usual issues regarding Ukraine’s accession to the European Union (EU) and NATO were also discussed.
“Here we have a common approach, and Lithuania, as a member of both institutions, is helping us as much as possible on the path to membership in them,” Kuleba said.
The discussions will also cover the issue of frozen Russian assets, sanctions and “everything that requires effective solutions”.
“We share our hope for what we expect from the European Council meeting on February 1st. Progress has been made in opening the European Peace Mechanism, which has long been blocked due to the position of individual EU member states. We are working on unblocking it and steps have been taken in this direction, which are hopeful,” said the Foreign Minister of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Denmark will host a forum of the defense industry of both countries, where the focus will be on joint projects to produce unmanned aerial vehicles.
Landsbergis arrived in Kiev on January 25th. On Friday he visited the Kharkiv region, where a shelter is to be built at the expense of the Baltic state.
