Van Eetvelt got rid of another talent, 21-year-old Igor Arrieta from the United Arab Emirates (son of José Luis Arrieta), with thirteen kilometers to go on a climb, but the Spanish climber managed to catch up again on the descent find and bring down Van Eetvelt pressure. He took a little too much risk because Arrieta crashed. Our compatriot then had to resist a strong chasing group, but with two kilometers to go it became too much for him. Another fantastic performance, which unfortunately was not crowned with a second win in a row.
Van Eetvelt ended up eighth, Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal-Quick Step) came fifth.

The Spaniard is on the honor roll as the successor to Kobe Goossens (Intermarché-Wanty). Last year he won the Trofeo Serra Tramuntana and the Trofeo Pollença-Port d’Andratx. Van Eetvelt then took second and third place.
The Trofeo Pollença-Port d’Andratx was the fourth part of the five-day Challenge Mallorca. This is one of the regular preparation races for the cycling season, but with a special twist: the challenge consists of five individual one-day races. The first of these, the Trofeo Calvia, was won on Wednesday by Briton Simon Carr (EF Education-EasyPost). The Frenchman Paul Magnier (Soudal-Quick Step) triumphed at the Trofeo Ses Salines-Felanitx on Thursday.
The Challenge Mallorca ends on Sunday with the Trofeo Palma, a race over 150 mostly flat kilometers in and around the capital Palma.
