Latvian Ambassador to Ukraine Ilgvars Kļava believes: “Being a good friend of Ukraine means supporting it in all possible diplomatic formats.”
The ambassador mentions specific international organizations, such as the UN and its affiliated organizations. Latvia’s humanitarian aid must continue to support Ukraine.

“We really do a lot, a lot, and for that we thank all the people in Latvia for their sacrifices,”
says Ambassador Ilgvars Kļava.
“I can honestly say that everyone has their own financial questions and problems. And in Latvia no one has too much money. At the same time, it is simply pleasantly surprising when you consider the amount and scope of aid being sent to Ukraine. “I can say that the Latvians have their hearts in the right place,” says the ambassador.
However, Ilgvars Kļava reminds that there are many problems in the political dialogue with allies that are not being resolved as they should. This also applies to military aid to Ukraine.
However, the ambassador reminds: “Latvia, of course, has very limited options when it comes to military assistance to Ukraine.” We do not produce powerful, large-scale military weapons ourselves. We may be able to do something in the field of ammunition, and we will do it, but we do not produce our own tanks, we do not produce aircraft and we do not produce artillery.
However, there are countries where the military industry supports and could support Ukraine, but which have problems making domestic political decisions.
“We can be Ukraine’s advocates in dialogue with these countries. “Explain the situation in Ukraine and explain why this is necessary,” said Latvian Ambassador to Ukraine Ilgvars Kļava.
The “Globuss” project is financed by the Media Support Fund from the Latvian state budget. AS “TV Latvija” is responsible for the content of the “Globuss” program.
