Aryna Sabalenka had to sweat for the first time at the Australian Open. US Open winner Coco Gauff had a difficult time in the semifinals, but in the end the defending champion won again in two sets.
Like Justine Henin or Kim Clijsters in their best days: Aryna Sabalenka rages through the Australian Open. She reached the semi-finals in Melbourne in a very short time and without losing a set.
The Grand Slam tournament received a repeat of the US Open final. Winner Cori “Coco” Gauff challenged Sabalenka again.
This time the Belarusian was ahead. She opened the match with an ace and hit a brilliant forehand.
Gauff had problems with her serve and fell behind 5:3. However, Sabalenka did not immediately manage to redeem the bonus. Now she started making mistakes.
Gauff took over and led 6:5. She was unable to operate the set. Sabalenka struck in the tiebreak and won set 1 after just under an hour. Notably, she had less time for complete matches in previous rounds.

In set 2, Aryna Sabalenka played less with fire. The score remained even until the score was 4:4.
Coco Gauff tried to catch up with Sabalenka with speed, but she couldn’t keep up with her power tennis. The second match point was bingo for Elise Mertens’ former doubles partner.
In the final on Saturday, Sabalenka will face the winner of the match between Dajana Jastremska from Ukraine and China’s Zheng Qinwen.
