Israel-Palestine Conflict: A Deep Dive
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has been a longstanding issue that continues to draw international attention. The roots of this conflict run deep, with historical, political, and religious factors playing a significant role in shaping the current situation.
Historical Background
The history of the Israel-Palestine conflict dates back to the late 19th century, with the rise of Zionism and the subsequent establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. This event marked the beginning of a series of conflicts and tensions between Israelis and Palestinians over land, resources, and national identity.
Current Situation
Today, the conflict remains unresolved, with both sides engaging in sporadic violence and diplomatic efforts to find a lasting solution. The issue of settlements in the West Bank, the status of Jerusalem, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees are among the key sticking points in the peace process.
International Involvement
The international community has been actively involved in mediating the conflict, with various peace initiatives and negotiations taking place over the years. However, achieving a lasting peace agreement has proven to be a challenging task, given the deep-seated grievances and mistrust between the two sides.
Humanitarian Impact
The conflict has had a profound humanitarian impact on the people living in the region, with widespread displacement, economic hardship, and loss of life. Organizations like the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) play a crucial role in providing assistance to those affected by the conflict.
Looking Ahead
As the Israel-Palestine conflict continues to unfold, it is essential for all parties involved to prioritize dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect for international law. Only through a concerted effort to address the root causes of the conflict can a lasting and sustainable peace be achieved in the region.

Review Findings on Allegations Against UNRWA Employees
Israel has not presented any proof to substantiate its claim that a "significant" number of UNRWA employees in Gaza are linked to terrorist groups, as per an independent review commissioned by the United Nations.
Mohammed Salem/REUTERS Independent Review and Ongoing Investigations
The review, conducted by former French foreign minister Catherine Colonna, revealed that it did not have the authority to probe Israel's claim that a dozen UNRWA employees were involved in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel. The United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services is handling a separate investigation into these allegations.

The U.S. Funding Suspension to UNRWA
UNRWA, also known as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, serves as the primary humanitarian aid and social services provider in Gaza. This role is crucial amidst severe shortages of essential resources like food, water, and sanitation due to ongoing military actions by Israel. During a recent press conference, Colonna emphasized the vital and irreplaceable role UNRWA plays in the region.
Neutrality Review and Findings
An extensive nine-week review led by Colonna assessed UNRWA's efforts to maintain neutrality. The report highlighted the agency's robust mechanisms to uphold neutrality, surpassing those of other U.N. entities, given the challenging operational environment. However, the review identified shortcomings, such as insufficient investigations into allegations of neutrality breaches by UNRWA staff.
Concerns and Criticisms
The report flagged instances where UNRWA employees expressed political views and certain offices were utilized for political or military purposes. Criticisms were also directed at UNRWA schools, particularly regarding problematic content in textbooks. Allegations of hate speech, incitement to violence, and antisemitism in Palestinian Authority educational materials have drawn significant scrutiny from donors and international assessments.
Employee Screening and Recommendations
The report raised issues regarding the screening of UNRWA personnel, with concerns raised by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding staff lists lacking Palestinian identification numbers. Recommendations for enhancing UNRWA operations included improved training, rigorous employee screening, and a thorough review of all educational materials.

Economy, Grocery | Price war at Grandiosa: – Never seen before
The discount chains have reduced the price of the original version of Pizza Grandiosa to 20.86. The normal price for Grandiosa has been between NOK 40 and 60 in the past year.
– Oi, it has now been put down again. It was cheap, says the Kiwi merchant then The online newspaper buys a Grandiosa to check that the price tag is actually correct. And it does it.
Both Kiwi, Rema 1000, Extra and Oda now sell Grandiosa for just over NOK 20. In comparison, it costs 64.70 at Meny.
– I have not seen this before, and you don’t get it cheaper than this, says blogger Rune “Gjerrigknarken” Nikolaisen. He follows the prices in the shops very closely.
Speculating about rationing
It was the discount chain Extra that first dumped the prices on Monday, and the others have since followed suit.
– I have spoken to several people who have made sure to fill up the freezer. There are quite a few Grandiosa fans out there who save space in the freezer until good offers come, says Nikolaisen.
In social media, there are several people who wonder if there will be rationing. Previously, Rema 1000 introduced a maximum of three per customer.
– Most excited about whether they have learned from the previous round and have set a maximum number of caps per person. Otherwise, this will probably become a short-term price war, writes one.
But there were still pizzas left in the shops Nettavisen checked on Thursday morning. And for now, no rationing.
Typical lure item
According to Nettavisen’s knowledge, the Grandiosa price has not been as low as it is now for several years. Grandiosa is a typical promotional product and is used to entice customers to the store.
When it was where price war at Grandiosa before Christmas the price was reduced from 59.90 to 35.90.
There was also a price war in January at Gradiosapizzaen, then the price was reduced to 29.90.
So when has the price been reduced significantly more.
Nikolaisen speculates whether the offer may have a connection with the fact that the competitor Dr. Oetker has had an offer, and that the Grandiosa offer is, in this sense, a way of fighting back.
– Is a price war on pizza undividedly positive?
– Yes, it’s good that people buy what they want at a good price. You will not get any health advice from me. Now it’s almost cheaper to buy ready-made pizza than to make it yourself, even though there is an offer on wheat flour this week too, says Gjerrigknarken.
Extra first
So it was Extra who lowered the price first this time.
– We take the blame for the crazy price of Grandiosa original. Extra will be the cheapest chain and this week we have 30 per cent on selected Grandiosa varieties, says communications director Harald Kristiansen to Nettavisen.
– There has been tough price competition on the original variant since Christmas, and the regulations state that customers must receive 30 per cent of the lowest price in the last 30 days, so the price will now be NOK 20.86, says Kristiansen. He says rationing is not relevant.
– But with such low prices, some shops can probably be empty for short periods, he says.
Kiwi immediately followed.
– When our low-cost competitors lower the price of an item or run short-term offers, we lower the price accordingly or more as soon as we discover it, says communications director Kristine Arvin to Nettavisen.
– We have promised the customers that we will be the cheapest on all goods, and then we will of course reduce the price accordingly, she says.
She states that Kiwi has no limit to how many you can buy.
