The city of Paris unveiled the plaque on Monday, January 8, on Rue David-Bowie in the 13th arrondissement, to mark the 77th birthday of the legendary musician, who died in 2016.
“Long live rock, long live pop, long live David Bowie and long live Paris!” »Jérôme Coumet, the mayor of the district, opened with the unveiling of the plaque along with people close to the artist, including the designer Agnès B., who dressed him “for twenty-five years”. David Bowie’s family has been detained in New York, said Jérôme Soligny, the singer’s friend and French biographer.
This initiative was launched by Jérôme Coumet, a Bowie fan, who received approval from the Paris City Council in February 2020 to name a street after the star.
