US rapper Ice Spice (24) was charged with plagiarism. Two New York musicians have sued the rapper because they believe her song “In Ha Mood” is too similar to their own song.
“It’s not credible that ‘In Ha Mood’ could have been made without first hearing ‘In That Mood’.”
Ice Spice brought In Ha mood released in 2023. The complainants themselves released the song a year earlier In this mood out of. In court documents published by the journal Rolling Stone accessed, it states that “the numbers are so similar that it cannot be a coincidence.” The complainants refer, among other things, to the title, chorus, lyrics and tempo of both songs. “The similarities between In Ha mood In In this mood are such that it’s just not believable In Ha mood could have been done without first In this mood heard,” the complaint states.
According to the entertainment website TMZ The plaintiff, rapper D Chamberz, is demanding at least half of the proceeds from Ice Spice’s song as well as damages.
Ice Spice’s song has been listened to more than 168 million times on Spotify. At the upcoming Grammy Awards, the rapper has a chance to win four awards, including Best New Artist.
