Freestyle wrestler Vazgen Tevanyan shared his impressions with ArmSport after winning the title of the winner of the U23 World Championship.
“It was not possible to win a gold medal at the World Championship for a long time, and I am very happy that it finally happened. I have to work harder to win the senior world championship. I am very happy, but I am already thinking about performing well in the next tournaments and training more,” said Tevanyan.
According to the athlete, he had the most emotional and impressive wrestling match at the U23 National Championship in the semi-finals, where he defeated Kazakh Adlan Askarov with a score of 7:6. “Mixed wrestling worked. The score was tied in the last seconds. I was confident that the final result would be in my favor, but there was a bit of tension anyway.”
To remind, Tevanyan started the fight from the 1/16 finals, where he won 10:0 over Canadian Daniel Troy Coles. In the 1/8 finals, he won by the same score over the English wrestler.
