The Ford Kuga was the best-selling plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in Spain in 2023, with 4,088 units of this engine
MADRID, 17th Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The car manufacturer Ford has presented the new version of the Ford Kuga, its SUV “made in Spain”, which has three engine options (petrol, hybrid and PHEV) as well as the new “Active” version with a more robust style. Orders are now open for this model, manufactured at the Ford factory in Almussafes (Valencia).
As the company detailed this Wednesday, the new Kuga presents a new design inside and out with the new “Active” finish, which is added to the Titanium and ST-Line finishes that make the car more robust and safe and at the same time offer greater differentiation between the different finishes of the range, with the aim of giving customers more flexibility in choosing the version that best suits their tastes.
“Our new Kuga takes to the next level the qualities that delight our customers and have made it the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe for two years in a row, and its leadership position is about to be confirmed in the 2023 statistics ““ emphasized the general director of Ford Blue Europe, Jon Williams.
In this sense, the Ford Kuga was the best-selling model in Spain among PHEVs in 2023, with 4,088 units of this engine registered (+75.8%), surpassing the Lynk & Co 01 in the last month of the year.
Ford has improved the PHEV and Hybrid AWD (FHEV) engines thanks to an improved power-split automatic transmission that delivers “significant benefits” in performance and towing capacity, providing greater versatility and increasing towing capacity by more than 30%, up to 2,100 kilograms.
So the Ford Kuga PHEV combines a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine, the electric motor, the generator and the 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery to produce an output of 243 hp (CV) and a pure Electric driving range of 1.5 to 2.5 HP can reach 60-69 km.
For its part, the Kuga Hybrid features a self-charging FHEV drive system that offers up to 64% pure electric mileage in the city, while combining the 2.5-liter Atkinson gasoline engine with a block electric motor, a generator and a lithium Ion battery.
Likewise, Ford also offers the thermal version with a 1.5 liter EcoBoost petrol engine that achieves an output of 150 hp with a fuel consumption of 6.3-7.2 l/100 km.
The new Kuga features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in all trims, as well as the ability to connect two smartphones, with a 5G modem for super-fast connectivity and uninterrupted service.
Ford has integrated the new SYNC 4 communications and entertainment system with twice the processing power of the SYNC 3 system, operated via a 13.2-inch landscape touchscreen.
