From a simple technology accessory to a health monitor, the Apple Watch has proven time and time again to be an important tool in preventing heart attacks. In connection with a ban on sales of its connected watch in the US, Apple reports two new stories in which its watch made it possible to detect heart problems in advance.

We’re not trying to teach you anything by telling you that Apple has mastered the art of communication. The manufacturer pretty regularly spreads stories about how its Apple Watch saved lives and warns the user before it’s too late. As New Year’s Eve approaches, Apple has done it again, reporting two new cases where its connected watch avoided tragedy. The fact that these stories are leaking while the company has been banned from selling its Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 in the US is probably no coincidence either. Especially since both stories take place in Uncle Sam’s country. So, thanks to his watch, Michael Gallegos in Wichita, Kansas, discovered a heart anomaly, which turned out to be a problem that required the installation of a pacemaker. The other case occurred in Asheville, North Carolina. Christopher Oakley was saved from a mild heart attack by relying on data from his Apple Watch to alert him to a heart abnormality.

You write to Tim Cook
Grateful for their smartwatches, the two men took the initiative and wrote to Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, to express their gratitude. Their letters illustrate how the Apple Watch has been instrumental in maintaining their health and even their lives. Apple’s CEO personally responded to these letters. A wonderful story then… which, as explained above, is particularly well timed. Beyond this point, it remains undeniable that these types of stories have multiplied over the years.
A clear effect
The examples of Michael Gallegos and Christopher Oakley are therefore by no means isolated cases. Many other users shared similar stories. These stories highlight Apple Watch’s ability to provide more than just a connected experience: it is actually a true health partner, monitoring the well-being of its users. One of the notable features of the latest Apple Watches is heart rate monitoring, which can detect abnormally high or low heart rates. In addition, the integrated ECG app allows an electrocardiogram to be recorded in the event of worrying cardiac symptoms, providing valuable data for medical diagnoses.
