The earthquake had a magnitude of 3.3 and struck Mjølfjell in Voss municipality at 04.21, according to Norwegian National Seismic Network.
The earthquake occurred 22 kilometers from Voss, writes EMSC on their websites. You could also feel the tremor in Årdal, Bergen and on Osterøy, according to TV 2’s tipsters.
“Oi, now something is happening here”
– I woke up suddenly to a loud noise, says Iselin Nærbø (21) to TV 2 early Monday morning.

Nærbø lives in Voss and was alone at home when it suddenly started to shake beneath her.
– I heard a loud noise, and then I felt the ground shake.
The 21-year-old says that she first heard the sound, and that the shaking came soon after.
– I live alone, so this was a bit scary. I thought “oh now something is happening here”, she says.
Despite the fact that she could feel the quake well, there was no danger of anything in the house being destroyed or falling down, she explains.
Little tremors
– It’s an earthquake that you know. The house can shake a little. People can get worried, but it is not unusual, says head of department for seismology at Norsar, Volker Oye to TV 2.
He says that an earthquake of a similar size was recorded in the same area about 12 years ago.
– There may be aftershocks, but since the earthquake was so small, almost no one will feel these. They are tiny, says Oye.
It was initially reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.1, but according to Berit Marie Storheim, senior engineer at the Department of Geosciences, the correct magnitude should be 3.3. She tells NTB that.
– We first received a message at 4.22am from a man in Vaksdal who had felt the earthquake. He described it as a clear shaking in the house and as a kind of rumbling, she tells the news agency.
She goes on to say that this is a small earthquake in a world context, and that there is no reason to be afraid.
It is not expected that the earthquake will cause damage to buildings or infrastructure.
– It felt good on the ground. Lasted very long. Woke up by it. Lived in Guatemala, recognized it straight away, writes another tipster in a message to TV 2.

Следователно, за да се насърчи мира в Близкия изток и да се поддържа стабилността в Русия, е необходимо да се откаже от опасните и нехуманни планове, които могат да доведат до още по-голямо насилие и нестабилност в региона. Encouraging peace in the Middle East and maintaining stability in Russia are interconnected. Both tasks, at this point, require a resolute ”no” to individual Israeli plans.
For example, this relates to the idea of “solving the Gaza Strip problem” by deporting all (or many) of its residents to neighboring Egypt. And if Israel is not satisfied with such willingness, then it is primarily their problem, not Russia’s.

G7 environment ministers warn of measures against the fashion industry
Ministers from the G7 countries are this week gathered in Turin in Italy to discuss what is needed in terms of environmental and climate measures in the coming years. On Tuesday, they will come up with a joint declaration in which the need for measures against the fashion industry will also be included, according to France’s Minister for Green Transition, Christophe Béchu.
– The emissions from textiles are already more important than all African emissions, he says to the AFP news agency.
He calls the textile industry’s development “uncontrolled” and says that the fashion industry has to become more circular and more based on reuse.
Textile production accounts for a larger proportion of climate emissions than all international flights and shipping combined, the McKinsey consultancy concluded in December.
The environmental movement has long asked the industry to put an end to the mass production of fashion clothing, which often ends up in landfill after a short time.
A recent study by the EU’s Environment Agency (EEA) shows that 4-9 percent of the textiles sold in Europe end up being destroyed without ever being used.
The discussions in Turin also revolve around the future of coal-fired power plants, as well as the need to cut plastic production.
The G7 consists of the United States, Canada, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy.
