Both sides emphasized the fact that there can be no development of tourism without basic infrastructure projects, projects for which the role of engineers is decisive.
Also, both sides referred mainly to the completion of the Ionian Road up to Kakavia, but also to its connection with Preveza, but at the same time also to the issue of the completion of biological cleaning projects, the arrangement of streams and all related matters aimed at the protection of the natural environment, which is so rich in our region.
Also, reference was made to the course of tourism and how much the tourist product can contribute to the increase of the GDP of our region, while the delay in the absorption of the resources of the Development Law and the NSRF for the modernization or establishment of new hotel units was also highlighted. At this point, the need to complete all the Urban Planning undertaken by the TEE was emphasized, so that all uses can be allocated to achieve a balanced development of our region.

The first group living house established solely by NGOs has opened in Lentvari
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Social Security and Labor (SADM), the group life home established by the Lithuanian association for the care of people with intellectual disabilities “Viltis” is the first in Lithuania, which was established “from foundations to services” by a non-governmental organization.
10 residents will live in this house, and they will be cared for by a social worker and several individual care workers. According to SADM, social care services are provided 24 hours a day for residents of group living homes.
Social, healthcare, employment, education, culture and other services for the residents of these houses are organized and provided in the community.
“The group living house in Lentvary is a great example of how the non-governmental sector can contribute to this, having implemented such a project from start to finish. This is a particularly important and welcome contribution,” Minister Monika Navickienė, who participated in the institution’s opening, is quoted in the report.
“I believe and hope that more municipalities will follow this example and include non-governmental organizations as equal partners, and in the future we will be able to enjoy more than one such project,” she said.
The group living house in Lentvary was established after using the funds of the structural funds of the European Union. The total value of the project is almost 685 thousand. euros.
According to the Ministry, at the end of last year, 53 group living homes were operating in the country, where 462 people lived. By the middle of this year, there should be about 100 such houses, and about 900 people with disabilities will live in them.
By the 2030s, the country’s municipality plans to establish about 80 more group living homes. Currently, the majority of group living homes are located in Kaunas.
