You dream that you will have a brilliant new hit. But unfortunately when you wake up you have no idea what the melody sounded like. That’s a shame because you could miss your chance for a top spot in the top 2000. Fortunately, researchers at the Phase Research Center (USA) are working on a solution.
Dancing between sleeping and waking
If they have their way, you’ll be able to hear your dream song again in the future. At least if your hit comes from a lucid dream, a dream in which you know you’re dreaming. In 2023, researchers trained some subjects to move their arms to the rhythm of the Queen hit We Will Rock You during these dreams. It worked. These movements were converted into an audible rhythm by computers using muscle sensors.
Any rhythm is possible
According to the researchers, after further research it will be possible to record more complex rhythms and play different instruments. Luckily: If everyone comes up with “stomststampklap” every evening, it doesn’t make much sense.
By the way, did you know that remembering dreams has everything to do with waking up?
