Alūksniete Sanita Buliņa was the only Latvian biathlete to qualify for the pursuit competition by finishing 60th in the sprint competition. The Latvian biathlete didn’t achieve a brilliant performance on the windy Slovakian track; she made a total of ten errors at the shooting range. Buliņa made three errors in the first and fourth rounds, but two goals remained open in the second and third rounds. As a result, Buliņa reached the finish line last or in 53rd place.
The winner of the sprint race, Ida Lien, made two mistakes in the third and fourth runs, which cost her the chance of winning the prize. Maren Kirkeide and Emilija Kalkenberg took advantage of their teammates’ mistakes, making two errors each on all twenty shots and giving Norway a one-two victory. The French biathlete Oceana Michelon won bronze.
Two-time Olympic champion Anastasija Kuzmina, who finished one place ahead of Buliņa yesterday, improved to 39th place.
