Kolkata – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma has threatened to arrest Rahul Gandhi after the Lok Sabha elections. Himanta’s announcement came after the Guwahati Police, on the directions of the Prime Minister, registered a case against Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal and Kanhaiya Kumar for allegedly inciting violence among officers.
Meanwhile, Rahul urged the police to file further cases against him and accused Himanta of being the most corrupt chief minister in the country. “Police can file 25 more cases, BJP and RSS cannot intimidate me with cases,” he said.
Tens of thousands took part in the Nyay Yatra, which reached the minority areas of Barpeta and Dubri in Assam. Rahul accused the Assam CM of being a land grabber. The business is closed by Himanta. The minds of Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Himanta are full of hate. Rahul said that the language and culture of Assam had been subjugated to Nagpur.
Rahul, who had earlier completed his visit to Meghalaya, was stopped by the police from entering Guwahati city. With this, the Congress workers broke through the police barricades. The journey later continued via the bypass road to avoid any untoward incident.
Himanta said that a special team will investigate the case against Rahul. He said that Rahul Gandhi was waging a Naxal-style fight and this would not be tolerated. Nyayatra will enter Bengal today via Cooch Bihar. After a rest tomorrow and the 27th, the journey will continue on the 28th. The tour of Bengal lasts until 31st.
Security must be ensured; Kharge’s letter to Amit Shah
New Delhi – Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah asking him to ensure security for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam. He alleged that the police allowed BJP workers to break through Rahul’s security cordon on several occasions. Rahul’s safety was threatened by the police operation. Kharge described five incidents in which Rahul’s security cordon was breached in the state.
