Why did I remember this historical event? In today’s Russia the hunt for philosophers has begun, but not for all of them.

The type that we already know from ourselves, namely the philosopher who can explain in depth why this or that politician is a blessing for the nation and society, will continue to enjoy his state honors.
It will be even easier for him. It doesn’t have to start with praise for Václav Klaus and end with an apology for Miloš Zeman. In Russia only Vladimir Putin can be glorified.
Independent minds, on the other hand, begin to bend. Olga, the widow of the famous Soviet philosopher Alexander Zinoviev, was the first to start the fight. Zinoviev was a fierce critic of the USSR and Stalin at the beginning of his career and eventually developed into an ardent defender of the USSR and an admirer of Stalin. His widow revived the rhetoric of Stalin’s purges when she spoke at a public denunciation-style press conference.
Revision of state tasks?
She called on Vladimir Putin to take a look at the mouth of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which she said was “the last refuge for scoundrels, traitors, foreign agents, defectors, Russophobes and extremists.”
According to her, Putin should order a lie detector test on the institute’s employees to determine whether they are attuned to the Russian wave and carry out a general denazification.

It was not a solo performance by the philosopher’s widow. Subsequently, TASS was authorized to declare that Russian philosophers were preparing fundamental changes.
“Russian scientists in the field of philosophy have proposed a number of measures to clean up their scientific field, which they say has largely succumbed to the influence of the West and its ideology,” TASS reported.
Leonid Polyakov, a professor at the Moscow University of Economics and a member of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, called for the creation of a new curriculum: “The course in Russian philosophy will replace the current general philosophical education. “In each village it is shaped differently, depending depending on who teaches it, and usually has no ideological meaning.”
Dmitry Vinnik, professor of the humanities department of the State Financial University, called for overcoming “features of Russian philosophy that owe to foreign countries.” According to him, it is “the collective belief that the philosopher must always be against the state and that the philosopher has the duty to be a pacifist, then open cosmopolitanism and intellectual snobbery”.
“There must be a revision of state tasks and curricula with a view to respecting the values of our society and the interests of our state.” “All gender-specific, feminist, postmodernist and pacifist courses and topics must simply be abolished,” said Vinnik.
According to him, it is also necessary to cancel “courses on so-called critical thinking and fact checking”. Why? “In reality, these are courses in applied Russophobia.”
