Al Jazeera Condemns Israeli Government’s Closure
Al Jazeera Media Network has expressed strong disapproval of the Israeli government’s decision to shut down its operations in Israel, labeling it as a “criminal act.” The network emphasized that such actions violate human rights and the fundamental right to access information, asserting its commitment to providing news to its global audience.
Suppression of Free Press
Israel’s continuous suppression of the free press, particularly in concealing its activities in the Gaza Strip, has been criticized by Al Jazeera as a violation of international and humanitarian laws. The network remains steadfast in its coverage despite the targeting, arrests, and intimidation of journalists by Israeli authorities.
Israeli Government’s Actions
Following the unanimous decision by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet to close Al Jazeera’s operations in Israel, the network faced immediate closure. The government also seized Al Jazeera’s broadcasting equipment, including essential tools for content delivery.
Escalation of Conflict
Israel’s move against Al Jazeera further exacerbates the longstanding feud between the two entities. The decision not only strains relations with Qatar, the network’s funder, but also complicates mediation efforts in resolving the conflict in Gaza.
International Response
Various journalists, media federations, and political analysts have condemned Israel’s actions, citing concerns about the implications for press freedom and democratic values. The International Federation of Journalists criticized the decision as regressive and authoritarian, highlighting the importance of a free and independent media.
Challenges Ahead
Despite facing challenges and threats to its operations, Al Jazeera remains committed to reporting on the Palestine-Israel conflict. The network’s journalists continue to provide coverage from the occupied territories, highlighting the importance of their work in the region.

In Vietnam, a former minister in the Prime Minister’s Office was arrested for involvement in corruption. Recently, there have been a series of incidents in Vietnam where high-ranking officials were stripped of their clothes on suspicion of corruption.
According to local media outlets such as VN Express on the 5th, the day before, Vietnamese public security arrested My Tien Dung, a former minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, on charges of abuse of authority related to a corruption case that occurred in Lam Dong Province in the central highlands and is being investigated.
Vietnamese authorities have not disclosed specific details of the investigation into Minister Zhong, but it is known to be related to an eco-tourism real estate development project in Lam Dong Province.
Minister Dung served as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office from 2016 to 2021 during the term of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
It is analyzed that a major renovation of the public service has been taking place for several years as the General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong, who is the first rank in the power hierarchy, expressed his strong will to eliminate corruption and crime. Last year, President Phuc suddenly resigned, saying he was responsible for the misconduct of public officials under him.
President Vo Van Truong, who took office as President Phuc’s successor, also abruptly stepped down in March on accusations of violating party regulations. This is the first time in Vietnam that the president, who is second in power, has resigned less than a year after taking office.
Then, last month, National Assembly Speaker Vuong Dinh Hue, fourth in power, resigned.
Authorities did not reveal the specific reason for the resignation of President Thuong and Chairman Hue, but there is speculation that they are involved in a corruption case. Some see the successive resignations of high-ranking officials as the result of a power struggle within the Communist Party.
Currently, two of the four main leadership positions in Vietnam, including the President, who is second in the power hierarchy, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, who is fourth in the power hierarchy, have given the best for the job and empty.
