For a long time we’ve wondered why Nintendo doesn’t leverage its licenses a little more outside of games and derivative products. Of course, the editor also asked the question and we have been working on implementing this new function for several years. Now everyone hopes that their favorite license will be used in a different way.
Nintendo: the era of diversification
In the early 2010s, Nintendo wasn’t in great shape. The brand wasn’t in any real danger yet, but the end of the Wii’s lifespan is difficult for the brand to deal with. whose profits and market shares are falling. The launch of the WiiU was supposed to restart the console, but the public doesn’t really understand which machine it is, which is due to a failed communication. Nintendo quickly records another video introducing the console and its “mablet,” but nothing works. After a very encouraging start, theSales are collapsing and the lifespan of the machine is only a long way off, nevertheless peppered with excellent titles. The latter will largely be entitled to a second life thanks to the following console that will break all records.
The Nintendo Switch is coming and is being accepted very quickly. I like the hybrid format, the concept is very clear and it comes with the port of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We know the rest: more than 132 million consoles sold, a Zelda license that atomizes average sales, and exclusive titles sold by the pallet. But starting in 2015, the company realized it needed to expand its operations around other elements With this in mind, the partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts is announced. A Super Nintendo World land will see the light of day and its opening is only delayed due to the pandemic. The first visitors enter the state in February 2021, and it’s a hit! Another identical land will open in Hollywood in February 2023, and we’re waiting now the opening of the same area in Orlandothen in Singapore, as well as a part dedicated to Donkey Kong.

A video was recently captured by Universal at the land construction site in Orlando and posted to Instagram. We see several people there, including Shigeru Miyamoto. But not only. As a matter of fact, This time, “Mario’s father” was accompanied by producer of The Legend of Zelda series, Eiji Aonuma. He has been working on the license since Ocarina of Time, overseeing recent productions and was recently nominated in France to receive the Knight of Arts and Letters medal, an award Miyamoto received years ago.

We know that the success of the animated film Super Mario Bros. allows for the live-action film project dedicated to The Legend of Zelda to really come out of the closet and is yet to be officially announced. A release is not expected for a while and nothing is known about the cast. However, we know that Directed by Wes Balland that the production is in collaboration with Sony Pictures. So when interests converge…
In any case, Zelda is popular, and the presence of Eiji Aonuma in the video has only given rise to numerous theories that one day there will be a park or a land dedicated to Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Impa and, more generally, Hyrule. For now, Nintendo and Universal have announced absolutely nothing therefore, Aonuma’s presence essentially means “nothing”. However, The American studio deleted the video , as the audience got a little carried away. Nothing more was necessary so many see it as confirmation that a “The Legend of Zelda World” park will see the light of day.
