The Togolese President, Faure Gnassingbé, appointed the teacher-researcher as president of the Constitutional Court. Mr. Djobo-Babakane Coulibaley (Photo) replaces the late Aboudou Assoumu at the head of the institution.
In a decree taken on April 25, 2024, President Faure Gnassingbé appointed Mr. Djobo-Babakane Coulibaley, president of the Constitutional Court. An appointment which comes just a few days after the swearing in of the new members of the said court.

Considering organic law n°2019-023 of December 26, 2019 on the Constitutional Court in its article 16;D E C R E T E :
Article 1: Mr. COULIBALEY Djobo-Babakane, member of the Constitutional Court, is appointed president of the Constitutional Court.Who is the new president of the Constitutional Court?
Mr. Djobo-Babakane Coulibaley is a teacher-researcher. He has been a member of the constitutional court for several years. With his appointment, he replaces the late former president, Aboudou Assouma who breathed new life into his creator in May 2023.
The Constitutional Court is made up of 9 members of recognized probity, appointed for a 6-year mandate, renewable only once. Three are appointed by the President of the Republic, including one because of his legal skills; three are elected by the National Assembly by a two-thirds majority of its members. They must be chosen from outside the deputies. One of them must be designated because of his legal skills.
It is the jurisdiction responsible for ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Constitution. It judges the regularity of referendum consultations, presidential, legislative and senatorial elections. It rules on the disputes of these consultations and elections, and judges the constitutionality of the laws

In addition to the stunning plant displays, the Expo also features garden art from countries around the world, with each garden showcasing unique cultural elements and design styles.
The Chengdu Expo aims to promote biodiversity protection and sustainable development through the display of garden art and rare plants. The International Bamboo and Rattan Organization has created a theme park featuring bamboo, using environmentally friendly materials to highlight the beauty and value of bamboo plants. Public activities such as exhibitions and science popularization events will be held to raise awareness about the importance of bamboo and rattan in improving the quality of life.
Tim Briercliff, secretary-general of the International Association of Horticultural Producers, praised Chengdu for implementing the concept of a park city and creating a legacy that will benefit its citizens long after the Expo ends. The Chengdu Expo serves as an example of how to achieve ecological balance and sustainable development, showcasing the city’s commitment to environmental conservation and green living.
