Washington: NASA engineers have achieved amazing success in re-establishing contact with the spacecraft Voyager 1. The second farthest man-made spacecraft from Earth has sent a message to Earth for the first time after 5 months, which can be read. Voyager 1 has sent an update about the health and status of its onboard engineering systems. Voyager 1 was sent into space in the year 1977 and is currently traveling outside our solar system at a distance of about 24 billion kilometers from Earth. The 46-year-old spacecraft has seen many strange behaviors in recent years, which are believed to be a sign of its aging.

The mess started in November 2023

Strange changes in Voyager 1’s behavior were first noticed in November 2023, when the telemetry modulation unit of the spacecraft’s flight data system began sending a repeating pattern of codes. Voyager 1’s flight data system has been stuck in a loop since November. The spacecraft has continued to send signals to the Mission Control team on Earth over the past few months but has not returned any useful data. According to NASA report, Voyager’s last message was received on November 14. Now on April 20, the mission team has received the first systematic data from Voyager 2. The team said that what has been seen so far suggests that Voyager 1 is healthy and functioning properly.

NASA became aware of the problem in March

According to NASA, Voyager’s problem, which was discovered last March, was related to one of its three onboard computers, called the Flight Data Subsystem (FDS). The FDS packages science and engineering data before transmitting them to Earth. The engineering team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California discovered that the chip responsible for storing a portion of the FDS memory was not functioning. This chip also contained the software code of the FDS computer.

Rock samples will not be returned from Mars? NASA faced difficulties

After failing to repair the chip, the Mission Control team decided to place the code elsewhere in the FHDash memory. But no space was large enough to contain the entirety of the code. After this, Mission Control prepared a plan to divide the code into several parts and keep it at different places. On April 18, a radio signal was sent to Voyager 1. After some modifications to the code, the team received the message from the spacecraft on April 20.

WALL – President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to the USA has been postponed.

Making a statement on the subject, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli stated that President Erdoğan’s planned visit to the USA on May 9 was postponed to a date that would be convenient for both parties due to incompatible schedules.

Keçeli said that high-level dialogue between Türkiye and the USA will continue.

What happened?

A statement was made yesterday by the US administration regarding President Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to the USA on May 9, which was allegedly cancelled. White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby was asked about Erdogan’s visit to the White House on the plane with US President Biden on the way to New York. “There’s nothing programmed,” Kirby replied.

Accordingly, a journalist told Kirby, “President Erdogan is expected to visit the White House in two weeks. Erdoğan hosted the Hamas leader last Saturday. Will this be the subject of negotiations? Or will it overshadow the visit? He posed the question. In his response, Kirby said, “There is nothing scheduled regarding President Erdogan’s visit. Therefore, I have no comment on this issue,” he said.

Stating that he would “leave it to Erdoğan to talk about his meetings,” the White House National Security Communications Advisor said, “We have been very clear about our stance on Hamas, who they are and what they represent. “I leave this issue here,” he said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniye had a closed-door meeting last Saturday.

news agency claimed that the visit was postponed in its news based on a Turkish source whose name it did not disclose. Another source, who did not want to be named, said it was not clear what caused the postponement.
