Handelsblatt recently reported that more and more customers are dissatisfied with Lufthansa.

In a conversation with the daily newspaper, the CEO of the German airline, Carsten Spohr, explained which points passengers criticize most often – and what measures are planned.

Accordingly, the punctuality and luggage management are the main points of criticism, but also the equipment of the cabins.

Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways are the most popular airlines in the world, a study revealed earlier this year Evaluation by the international rating organization Skytrax. In a European comparison, Air France and Swiss International Air Lines were at the top. And Lufthansa? She ended up in sixth place.

“The two most common reasons for complaints are punctuality and baggage management,” says Spohr in an interview. The CEO believes that airports also have a responsibility to solve these problems. “In addition, there is the cabin equipment, which is overdue for renewal on long-haul routes,” adds the managing director. He is sure that the new Lufthansa cabin “Allegris” addresses these points of criticism and makes customers more satisfied.

In May, the first aircraft with Lufthansa Allegris on board will be used alternately on the Munich – Vancouver and Munich – Toronto routes, like the airline on your website indicates. With each additional A350, additional cities will be added, initially Chicago and Montreal from July 2024.

But Allegris is not the only measure to make customers more satisfied, says Spohr. In the future, the service offering on board economy class will also be expanded and additional staff will be deployed. The problem, however, is the costs. There is “brutal price competition” in the economy class.

Suparna wants to move completely away from Boeing passenger jets

Currently Air China’s fleet consists of nearly 500 aircraft. This includes a total of more than 200 examples of the A320/A320 Neo family from Airbus
as well as a total of more than 120 Boeing 737s in the -700, -800 and Max 8 versions.

However, the Air China order is not the only recent win for Comac. Private Chinese airline and HNA subsidiary Suparna Airlines has announced that it wants to replace its Boeing passenger fleet with C919s over the next three to four years.

HNA has ordered many Comac C919s

Suparna Airlines currently operates around ten Boeing 737-800s. There are also three Boeing 747 freighters. The airline plans to convert its Boeing 737s to C919s. By 2027 it wants to take delivery of 30 of the aircraft, of which parent company HNA has ordered 60.

The C919 is 39 meters long and its wingspan is 35.8 meters. It is powered by two Leap-1C engines from the French-American manufacturer CFM and can fly up to 4,075 kilometers. It has a maximum capacity of 192 seats. The model has already exceeded the order threshold for 1,000 jets in the autumn of 2023.

The Franco-Ontarian Business Forum presented its second edition on April 25 at the Globe and Mail Center in Toronto. This event, coordinated by the Fédération des gens d’affaires francophones de l’Ontario (FGA), brings together stakeholders in economic development and Francophone entrepreneurship from the province and beyond . This Forum was hosted by the host and representative Mathilde Hountchégnon, who has worked for over 15 years in the media and communications sector. After lunch, she gave the floor to the president of the FGA, Dominic Mailloux for the welcome speech. The latter thanked the two guests of honor at the start of a day full of activities. They are the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Edith Dumont and the Minister of Francophone Affairs and President of the Board of Finance, Caroline Mulroney.

Ms. Dumont warmly thanked the FGA for the invitation and emphasized the importance of doing business in French and supporting Franco-Ontarian entrepreneurs. She praised the efforts made by the Ontario government and Minister Mulroney to improve the economic potential of the Francophonie.

Afterwards, Caroline Mulroney launched the Forum by expressing her pleasure to participate for the second year in a row. “I’m reconnecting with familiar faces and I’m excited to meet new minds dedicated to entrepreneurship,” she says. She welcomed a delegation from Côte d’Ivoire, a country with which Ontario has a large trade, worth $140 million in 2023. “This Forum is another proof of the unifying nature of the FGA. Ontario’s entrepreneurial ecosystem ranks fourth behind the region of New York, Texas and California,” the minister said.

She emphasized that the Ontario government will continue to foster opportunities for openness, collaboration and partnership with members of the Organization Internationales de la Francophonie (OIF), of which Ontario is an observer member.

“Our government is pleased to support the FGA as part of the economic mission to be held in June. There is no need to remember that Ontario has a connection with Quebec and New Brunswick to host this first OIF mission in North America. The Federation will lead a delegation of about 15 Ontario companies. Ontario will also demonstrate its presence at the 19th OIF Summit to be held in October in Paris,” says Ms. Mulroney.

“Our Francophonie is a valuable asset in Ontario. It gives access to a large linguistic family around the world.
