Xbox, console sales don’t matter to Microsoft and users need to understand this

Mat Piscatella, head of Circana (formerly NPD Group), said Xbox fans should understand that selling consoles is not a priority for Microsoft because its business depends on other, more important things. The famous analyst shared these new statements regarding the numerous rumors that are circulating on the Internet today and according to which the American giant intends to bring some of its games to direct competing consoles, in particular the PS5 and the Nintendo Switch. And according to Mat Piscatella, this desire of Microsoft is explained by the great importance of the Xbox sold in the company’s projects, since within the American company they are focused on building a sustainable and efficient ecosystem. Here’s what Piscatella said via his X-profile (Twitter):

“I think at some point Xbox fans have to believe the Xbox team when they say it’s fine to buy an Xbox console, but you don’t have to have it to access the ecosystem.”

Concerned that he had not made himself clear enough, Piscatella added the following statements in a second message:

“Honestly, I understand that I love the console experience and want it to succeed. And you may not agree with Microsoft’s strategy or even find it unattractive. But we can’t say that the Xbox team hasn’t been clear and consistent on this point in recent years.

In summary, they have become clearly evident in recent months, according to Microsoft’s Mat Piscatella, with Phil Spencer admitting just a few weeks ago that he also sees PlayStation and Nintendo Switch users as part of the Xbox community.
