WHO IS ZEYDAN KARALAR?
He was born in Adana in 1958. He attended primary school, secondary school and high school in Adana. He founded the Democratic Left Higher Education Association in 1977 and served as chairman of the board. Between 1977 and 1980, he was treasurer of the CHP Provincial Youth Branch and president of the Central District Youth Branch.
In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Çukurova University. In 1981, at the age of 23, he was elected President of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, becoming the youngest Chamber President in Turkey; He was regional president and delegate to the board of directors (TMMOB) for two years.
From 1979 to 1985 he worked as a Yarn Business Supervisor at Çukobirlik. Between 1985 and 1991, he worked as a customer service manager at the German AEG ETİ Endüstri A.Ş. Between 1991 and 1996, he was the head of Çukobirlik Yarn Weaving Mill and technical deputy general director.
From 1996 to 2007, he was the general manager of Okan Tekstil A.Ş. He also founded the Okan-Antriko integrated textile factory in Kazakhstan and served as its managing director. In 2005 he founded his own company, A-TEKS Engineering. In 2008, he founded his second company, Başkent Pres. While he continued to run the company, he didn’t take a break from politics.
On July 7, 2010, he was appointed provincial chairman of CHP Adana. He carried out the referendum activities. He won the provincial congress on January 23, 2011 and continued this task in the general elections.
In 2014, he became district mayor of Adana Seyhan in the Turkish local elections.
In 2019, he became mayor of the Adana metropolitan region in the Turkish local elections.
