Communities and events
Group conversations on WhatsApp are a powerful tool for groups of friends and for complete strangers who share common interests or goals. Groups can then be merged into larger communities to create a sort of forum with departments. In communities you can plan events and They will automatically be pinned in the appropriate community groups. This should make planning your time together much easier and save you from having to manually process event reports.
This new feature is already available in beta version 2.24.3.20 of Messenger for Android. Events are also displayed on the tab that displays groups within the community. The event will also appear at the top of the chat view within the community and will be present there along with other pinned messages. The process does not require any further action from the chat administrator.
It should also be noted that the creation of events in communities is progressing very slowly and many testers do not yet have access to them. It’s hard to say when it can be made available to those using the beta version of the messenger, let alone regular users.
Minor interface change
The latest update also introduces New tag informing users about end-to-end encryption of the conversation. Its existence is questionable, since the messenger has encryption checking functions anyway (it’s worth using them). The padlock also appeared on iOS.
By touching the new icon you can check the encryption details. Remember that you can also get this option by tapping on the contact – the chat details will open and there you will find the relevant commands. Therefore, it is difficult to say whether an additional padlock is even necessary. Can it help users familiarize themselves with the messenger’s features, just like the presence of a “padlock” next to the address in web browsers helps? It cannot be ruled out that the makers of WhatsApp are planning changes to the interface and will move the functions for checking chat encryption “further to the fore”. It can also be a simple experiment.
