Thiruvananthapuram: With the resignation of two ministers as per the front-line agreement, the government has a huge liability regarding staff pension. 37 political appointees on the staff of ministers Anthony Raju and Ahmed Devarkovil will receive lifelong pensions. The pension is 3450 to 6000 rupees. And there will be other benefits, including DA. Apart from this, there is another burden on the staff of the new ministers, including the salaries of the new staff.
Antony Raju, the transport minister, had a total of 21 people on his staff. Another secretary and an employee from the civil service were sent from there. The remaining 19 came through political appointments. Anthony Raju’s staff consisted of two additional private secretaries, four assistant private secretaries, one additional PA, one assistant, four clerks, office assistants, two drivers and a cook.
The staff of Ahmed Dewar Kovil, the ports minister, included 25 people. Of these, seven people came on behalf of government agencies. The remaining 18 are political representatives. The private secretary will return to government service. Two of the three additional private secretaries are political appointees. 4 deputy private secretaries, including two political appointees. One PA, one additional PA, 4 clerks, 5 farm workers and two drivers were political appointees. The chef was also a political appointee.
