The smallest, purely electric Volvo could become a real bestseller

Volvo has come onto the scene with the EX30 at a very good time, as electric cars are expected to finally come onto the market this year, with prices that can be bought with a minimal difference to today’s new car prices. Previously, an electric drive model usually had a premium of several million HUF compared to the combustion engine version, but perhaps this year will be the first year that usable-sized electric cars finally hit the market in the 12-14 million HUF category come.

Many European, American and even more Chinese manufacturers will be entering the segment this year, so there will be movement and that is exactly why Volvo has launched the EX30 model at an excellent time. While the corresponding cars from the competition still only exist on paper, the EX30 is already available, production and deliveries are constantly being built up, leading to ever higher numbers.

The Core version, here from 14,490,000 HUF, is already a nice electric car, I would buy one myself if I had to buy a new electric car now, maybe I would only have to add 1-2 extras and I wouldn’t have a say . I can’t be alone in my opinion, as Volvo recently released a report in which the Swedish-Chinese manufacturer reports that the EX30 is already on track to become the best-selling Volvo model in 2024.

The first pieces delivered reached Belgian, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese customers in December and the feedback on the type has been very good. And the best part is that interest in the EX30 continues to grow. According to Volvo, the model exceeded all of the company’s expectations in terms of demand.

Although the EX30 is expected to be Volvo’s most sought-after model in the coming years, the company also has the all-electric XC40 and C40 models, which are also popular with customers.

Last year, sales of electric vehicles with the Volvo logo increased by 70% compared to the previous year, meaning more than 113,000 pure electric vehicles were sold. Volvo’s electric vehicles accounted for 16 percent of total sales, up from 10.9 percent in 2022. CEO Jim Rowan said they expect an even bigger increase in this area in 2024, as also the all-electric EX90 SUV, the ES90 -Limousine and the EM90 van will come, equipped with all earthly amenities.
