Voivode does not see “great resistance” to the state entering as a participant in the regional hospital. Currently, Daugavpils hospital has three holders of capital shares, and the distribution and redistribution of shares is the decision of the founders, Vaivode added.
“It is not something that could either greatly improve or complicate the daily work of the board,” thinks the chairman of the board.
She noted that negotiations are ongoing and it is not yet clear that this will actually happen. The process is also legally complicated, as it is a decision of three shareholders. Currently, Daugavpils city municipality owns 89.29% of capital shares of Daugavpils regional hospital, the municipality of Augšdaugava region – 8.42%, and Riga Stradins University – 2.29%, according to “firmas.lv” data.
The Daugavpils regional hospital could be the first to be entered by the state soon, and was selected as a pilot project “because of our financial difficulties”, Vaivode reasoned, noting that the government could soon evaluate the reforms initiated by the Ministry of Health in the network of Latvian hospitals, where there is not only the Daugavpils regional hospital , but for wider changes.

Audits are expected by the Chairman of the Board as a good tool for planning future activities and overcoming crisis situations.

Waste intermunicipal company MIWA, responsible for waste collection and the recycling parks in Sint-Gillis-Waas, Sint-Niklaas, Stekene, Temse and Waasmunster, will closely monitor the contents of the green organic waste containers in the coming weeks.
