Representatives of bp, SOCAR and Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) presented their vision regarding gas production and supplies by Azerbaijan at the Flame 2024 gas conference in Amsterdam, Day.Az reported on Friday.
The conference took place on April 23-25 and brought together more than 300 representatives of companies specializing in the development of the gas industry.
The interests of Azerbaijan at this international event were represented by SOCAR Deputy Vice President Vitaly Beglyarbekov, BP Vice President for the Caspian Region Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli and TAP representative Maria Savova.
In their speeches, they focused on the development of the Shah Deniz field (bp is the production operator, SOCAR and TAP are among the companies responsible for transporting gas from Shah Deniz).
As commercial director of TAP AG Maria Savova stated at the conference, TAP’s capacity for delivering Azerbaijani gas to Europe can be increased gradually.
Beglyarbekov mentioned that the first stage of expansion will start in January 2026 (by 1.2 billion cubic meters) and concerns the growth of TAP throughput to 14 billion cubic meters per year from the current 12 billion cubic meters.
It should be noted that gas from Shah Deniz (1 billion cubic meters) is also involved in this stage of increasing TAP’s capacity.
Let us recall that Azerbaijan has been supplying gas to the EU since December 2020.

TEACHER in political science at the University of Indonesia, Aditya Perdana, believes that the fat coalition that might occur in the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government can be balanced with critical voices from civil society. He believes that the character of political parties in Indonesia is not fully capable of being a good opposition.
“Even if there are one or two parties outside the government, the public will actually expect a lot from civil society, academics who will continue to be critical, and then the government, in this case the president, will be able to accept it too and not be harsh,” said Aditya when contacted, Thursday (25 /4).
The Executive Director of Algorithmic Research and Consulting also hopes that political parties in government must also be able to play a role in providing input and criticism of policies. To support this, criticism from the public must be strengthened to carry out checks and balances on the wheels of power so that democracy will become stronger.
“Even though it is difficult (to control), because from the start they were asked to oversee the government. But what is hoped is that they can still hear the voices of public criticism and can bring them into the coalition within to remind the president later,” he said.
He predicts that there will be a dominant coalition in the government later. The factor, he said, is seen from the background of political parties in Indonesia which do not have a tradition of being in opposition.
“If we talk about PDI Perjuangan, for example, it’s still hot (Jokowi-Megawati relations). If it cools down later, it could enter government, maybe next year,” he said. (Mall/Z-7)
