Nutritionist Eveline van de Waterlaat says: “Diets don’t work” | Feel good about your own skin challenge

At a party you suddenly find yourself holding a bitterball and a glass of wine. Well, it can’t do any harm, you think. But before you know it, there are three. What difference does it make then? It has already failed. The result: a lot more wine and a dip in the bitterballen. The next morning you wake up with a bloated stomach and a slight hangover. ‘How could I be so stupid? I can’t even go on a diet,” you tell yourself. And the funny thing is that you attribute this failure to yourself, but these lost kilos are the result of the diet.

And do you know what’s so bad about it? Dieting doesn’t work. So that’s out. I believe that strict diets are not the solution, but the cause of the constant yo-yo. Huh? But to lose weight you have to go on a diet, right? NO. These strict dietary rules actually trigger your relaxed version. The result: You reach for M&M’s, pepper chips and the delicious BonBonBloc bars. In the meantime, you sink into a spiral of dieting, eating, and dieting again.

I always thought that you had to fight and diet to lose weight, but the opposite is true. Do you recognize that? Not only do you pay attention to how much sugar you consume, but you also simply ban all carbohydrates from your diet. Not only do you count the calories, you immediately go on a crash diet. A brisk walk isn’t enough, but of course you go to the gym at seven in the morning, five days a week.

You see results, you can handle anything and you feel invincible. There is no chance that you will ever relapse. But you just forget for a moment that you are human too. Doing everything perfectly is not human. And by exaggerating like that, you are actually setting your own failure in motion. Of course it’s good to understand what nutrition does, but we’re going too far. As a child you learn that losing weight means a lot of suffering, everything has to be strict and unpleasant. You cancel dinner, skip drinks with friends, and fries have to be taken off the menu…

You know what? Just forget all the dietary rules with a glass of white wine! Yes, it takes some adjustment, but you quickly realize that you have better control of your weight and that your weight doesn’t control you. You don’t have to do this alone. I’ll help you and explain how to do it in this free Feel Good Challenge. Are you going to participate?
