South Korea, the United States and Japan held joint naval exercises at sea off South Korea’s Jeju Island this week, calling them a response to North Korea’s test of an intermediate-range ballistic missile on Sunday. The missile fired on Sunday afternoon was equipped with a guided hypersonic warhead.
Nine warships took part in the exercise, including the US aircraft carrier Carl Vinson.
