MSI PRO DP180 and MSI PRO MP2422C test – computer with Intel Core i7-13700F and GeForce RTX 3060, as well as an inexpensive Full HD VA monitor

Over the past few months we have had the opportunity to test several ready-made computer sets from MSI. These were primarily small computers such as the MSI PRO DP10 or MSI Cubi 5 with low-voltage Intel Alder Lake-U or Raptor Lake-P processors. Today we would like to introduce a much more powerful computer that is also positioned as a work device, but this time its computing power also enables games to be played. We’re talking about the MSI PRO DP180 set, which offers desktop components: an Intel Core i7-13700F processor and an MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ventus 2X card. In addition to the desktop, we will also look at the MSI PRO MP2422C office monitor, which, although it is offered at a very affordable price, but the parameters of which are surprisingly good.

MSI PRO DP180 is available in different versions – the basic versions require processors such as Intel Core i3-13100 or Core i5-13400 as well as integrated Intel UHD Graphics graphics chips. The more advanced models not only feature 13th generation Intel Core i7 processors, but also MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ventus 2X or GeForce RTX 4060 Ventus 2X graphics cards. The variant we tested is only launched in Poland, so when it comes to prices we have to look more through the prism of foreign prices. From this it follows that the set with Intel Core i7-13700F and GeForce RTX 3060 should cost about PLN 6,000. This variant also receives the NVIDIA Studio certificate, which means that it can also be used in slightly more advanced applications, including: for editing photo/video material or for three-dimensional modeling, also using real-time ray tracing.

MSI PRO DP180 is one of the most efficient ready-made computer sets for office work. The test device was equipped with an Intel Core i7-13700F processor and a GeForce RTX 3060 card. We also tested the PC with an MSI PRO MP2422C monitor.

I already wrote above that the MSI PRO DP180 variant we tested offers the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ventus 2X graphics card. However, it turns out – and you should know this – that the model tested is a slightly weaker version of the popular NVIDIA Ampere system. Instead of 12 GB of VRAM, there is 8 GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus, which automatically reduces the bandwidth to 240 GB/s. However, we still have the GA106 core with 3584 CUDA processors. In the case of the Intel Core i7-13700F processor, we get a 16-core and 24-thread system, which means the presence of 8 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This is also a variant of the processor without a functioning, integrated graphics system, which requires the presence of a separate graphics card.

Along with the computer came the MSI PRO MP2422C monitor for testing – it’s the same model we listed in our latest recommended monitors guide. It is characterized by the use of a 23.8-inch VA matrix with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The refresh rate reaches 100 Hz, the response time is 1 ms MPRT and there is support for the basic AMD FreeSync refresh technology. The contrast ratio is a solid 4000:1, which also translates into the better quality of black. A rather interesting (albeit puzzling) solution is curvature, and quite specifically (considering the screen size) – the radius of curvature is 1500R. All this for the price is PLN 399, so we are talking about a very profitable monitor, of course if the specification is accompanied by a good quality of the displayed image. Of course, we also checked this in this combined test.
