An average wind force of 9 was measured in Vlissingen and IJmuiden during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. This is officially the third storm of the year. Due to strong gusts of wind, code yellow applies in large parts of the Netherlands.
The Irish Meteorological Service has named the storm “Jocelyn”. Storm Isha hit the country earlier this week. On January 2nd, the Netherlands had to deal with Storm Henk.
Jocelyn is accompanied by strong gusts of wind. The strongest wind gust, which reached 99 kilometers per hour, was measured in Vlissingen, according to Weeronline. A wind gust of 97 kilometers per hour was measured at Schiphol. According to KNMI, there is also the possibility of very strong wind gusts in the Wadden area.
Due to the strong gusts of wind, the yellow reporting requirement was in effect across the country on Wednesday morning. In North Brabant and Limburg it ended at 7 a.m. Zeeland, Gelderland and Utrecht followed later.
The coastal provinces in the north and west will experience squalls until the afternoon. The same applies to Flevoland and Overijssel.
Minor inconvenience on rail and road due to severe weather
Storm Jocelyn hardly causes any problems on the road or rail. There were disruptions at the NS on Wednesday morning, but according to a NS spokesman, these were not weather-related.
The ANWB speaks of a fairly frequent morning rush hour. The wind only slightly hindered traffic, a spokesman said.
Rijkswaterstaat reported an accident due to strong winds. On Wednesday morning, the wind hit a container on the A73 near Boxmeer, which overturned along with its trailer.
