Riga started the second round of the Baltic League on the last Sunday in January. The calendar will be tight considering the 4th-12th. A break for the national teams is scheduled for February, but the European Cup quarter-finals are scheduled for February 22 in Riga and February 29 in Venice.
The number of games played by Latvian and Lithuanian teams differs significantly. In the southern neighboring country, two additional rounds of the national championship must be played – 10 more games, during 9th-10th. The “Smart Way” Queen’s Cup will take place in Vilnius in March.
On Sunday, TTT reported eight players, seven of whom went on the pitch – Ieva Pulvere remained in the reserves. Kyra Lambert also didn’t play – the linebacker took part in all games in the first round, as did Margo Clavo and Dekeya Cohen.
The archery team builds the game around five legionnaires. In the first few months of the season, three young Lithuanians were in the rotation – playmaker Dangole Pupkevičiute played an average of 23 minutes, Brigita Rimkevičiute 17 minutes and Kamile Berenīte 16 minutes.
The teams met for the thirteenth time. The score is 12:1 in favor of the girls from Riga. TTT basketball players won all matches in the Baltic League and suffered the only loss against Šiauliai in the European Women’s Basketball League.

Less played lineup – more mistakes. The girls from Riga lost the ball quite often in the first 10 minutes, but they beat the Sun City team with their quick breakthroughs and shooting accuracy. TTT made 9 of the first 12 shots. Gabija Meshkonite played first fiddle in attack, but Vanesa Jasa’s performance was also very effective. The attacking defense quickly converted two long shots. Aleksandra Stepanova and Tina Graus each scored four points – 23:15.
In the next quarter, TTT’s quick transitions continued, so the accuracy of shots remained high – by the break, the home team made 63% of the shots from the game. The shooters fell behind and lost duels near the basket. Louise Silas shot from all positions in the second ten minutes and scored eight points, and Evelina Otto added six more. A three-pointer with Gabija Meškonītis gave them an 18-point lead, but in the last second of the half Cassidy Mihalko responded with a long-range shot – 50:35.
Šiauliai was not destined to play back as the Riga players’ breakthrough peaked in the third quarter. Despite the rotation of seven players, the lead was almost doubled – 74:46. Vanesa Jasa showed a particularly good game, shooting with great accuracy from all positions. Evelina Otto has played more down low this season, but on Sunday she made three of four long throws. A productive game for Tina Graus (five assists), Aleksandra Stepanova (four interceptions) and Madara Ķilpe (12 rebounds, including 10 on defense).

Rules of the game
Thirteen teams, playing each other home and away, will play a two-round tournament (24 games). The winner of the main tournament automatically qualifies for the “Final of Four”, while the 2nd-7 placeholder season continues in the playoffs. The winners of the quarter-finals will be determined in the sum of two games.
