The arrests and house searches followed investigations by the DSN intelligence service and the country’s counter-extremism agency against members of the right-wing extremist internet terrorist group Feuerkrieg Division. They connected with similarly oriented people via encrypted channels on the Telegram communications platform.
Among those arrested is a 20-year-old young man who has long been in the sights of reporters. They searched his house last May. According to the Kronen Zeitung, this man wrote in a chat about bombings against Jews and Muslims when he was a minor. He was also in contact with a Slovakian who shot two people outside the Tepláreň gay bar in Bratislava in October 2022. The perpetrator then committed suicide.
