Trader who testified in the Kaplan inquiry: “I left Ankara at Soylu’s request.”

Aydın said: “A police officer said: ‘This is the request of Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on the instructions of our Police Chief Servet Yılmaz.’ “They will leave Ankara,” he said. “The police came to my house and accompanied me to leave Ankara,” he said.

While the court’s consideration of the charges was still ongoing, it was revealed that a craftsman named Yusuf Aydın went to the Ankara police last Wednesday and filed a complaint against Kaplan and the police chiefs with whom he was allegedly in contact.
In his statement, Aydın stated that due to the trade between them, he received a post-dated check from a person named Ümit Günay Akıncı and that Akıncı’s wife, who was being treated in the hospital after the company checks were issued in February, called him and ran away told him “not to write the checks, he would pay the debts” and said the following:
“Since we have been doing business with Akıncı for many years, I did not print my check for 14 million 200,000. Akıncı wanted to return the vehicles with the same model after leaving the hospital, but this did not happen. After a while, a person named Emre Akbaba called me and said, “Günay Akıncı signed a contract with me. Send us the pictures of the check. We will call you to make payment.” A week later he invited me to a breakfast place in Incek. Here he made statements to me like “You are a loan shark.” I showed the documents in my hand and said that I do forward transactions and do not even print or execute Akıncı’s checks even though they are overdue. Akbaba then said, “I will call my lawyer and after this meeting you will give the checks free of charge.”

Later, Akbaba called the lawyer named NK and started talking by turning on his loudspeaker. “A believer came from Günay, what should we do?” said. I said I wouldn’t give the checks and left. Then I called my partner Aziz Savaş. He said to me: “Yusuf, don’t get involved with these people, it doesn’t matter whether he is guilty or not” and that Servet Yılmaz and Alp Aslan oppressed him.

When we entered a restaurant in Çukurambar with my friends in the month of Ramadan 2023, police officers prevented us from entering. They put us on the ground and kept us in the rain for 45 minutes. After we searched us, a police officer said: “This is the request of Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on behalf of our police chief Servet Yılmaz.” “You will leave Ankara,” he said. My three host friends lived with me in the hotel opposite the restaurant. Police officers came to their rooms and asked them to check out of the hotel and remove all their belongings from their rooms. My friends also went into the room and took their things with them, and the police filmed my friends leaving the hotel. After my friends left the hotel, I went home with the police. While I was walking, I called my wife and asked her to prepare a bag for me. I used my own vehicle and the police teams drove behind me in their patrol cars. When we got home, my wife gave me the suitcase and I set off to leave Ankara in my own vehicle. At the Akıncılar toll booth, I was stopped by the police again and I had to go to the police station. After spending three to four hours at the police station, we left Ankara with my friends and I didn’t come back for 15 days.
15 days later, a man who said he was a police officer in the organized branch called me and said, “We have something to talk to you about, let’s sit down and eat Iftar together.” While I, Aziz Savaş and my brother were sitting at a place in Çukurambar, five police officers came to my table. Ümit Günay Akıncı told Ayhan Bora Kaplan about the situation regarding these checks, that Kaplan had referred the matter to Servet Yılmaz, that we had nothing to do, that I should return the checks and quit this job, otherwise my name would be included in the list Usury file prepared, otherwise Kaplan and she left, saying I would incur the wrath of Yilmaz.”
