On Monday, Gigante Salmon brought two groups of fish to the facility in Rødøy and recorded high mortality. Why exactly was not clear at the time. This is what Intrafish wrote.
UPDATE: 20,000 smolts died at Gigante Salmon, the company said in a stock market filing on Thursday.
– The fish was dead upon delivery at the factory, the reasons for this are now being investigated by the Fish Health Service. Overall mortality is about 3 percent, while in the second of the two deliveries it is about 6 percent. The situation is under control and the factory in Rødøy is functioning as planned, the company writes in the statement.
A total of 640,000 smolts were introduced, divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 340,000 fish while the second group consisted of 300,000 fish.
According to Intrafish, the final group of fish didn’t do quite as well, while group one did well.
– Unfortunately, we experienced a lot of dying during the second birth last night. “We will come back to the cause later when it is mapped,” Gigante Salmon CFO Rune Johansen said on Tuesday.

Managing director Helge Albertsen was unable to quantify how many smolts died above Intrafish earlier this week.
– It remains to be seen how many dead fish there are. We need to ask you for some patience and understanding so that we can cover the reasons and not speculate about them, he told the website on Monday.
When asked by E24 whether there could be up to 300,000 dead salmon in the worst case scenario, Albertsen replied that he did not dare to speculate about it.
“We need time to find out what the cause of death was and, not least, to carry out a count,” he says.
The Gigante salmon facility in Rødøy is a land-based flow-through facility.
