EU⁣ Calls⁤ for Resumption‍ of ⁣Funding

The European Union has appealed⁤ to international donors to resume funding⁣ for Gaza’s⁤ largest UN agency. This call comes‍ after ⁤a review⁣ found that Israel failed to provide evidence supporting its claim⁢ that thousands of UNRWA staff were affiliated with terror groups.

US Aid Contingent on Progress

The United States has stated ‍that it will not reinstate its aid until UNRWA demonstrates “real progress” in its operations. UNRWA,⁣ which offers ‍healthcare, education, and humanitarian aid to Palestinians, ‍employs 13,000 individuals in ⁤Gaza.

International Support for UNRWA

EU humanitarian chief⁤ Janez ‍Lenarcic ⁤and⁣ Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide have both emphasized the importance of supporting UNRWA.⁢ While some‌ countries like Australia, Canada, and ⁤Japan have resumed funding, others including the US, UK,⁣ and Italy have yet⁤ to do so.

Israel’s Allegations⁣ and UNRWA’s ‌Response

Israel has accused⁤ over 2,100 UNRWA staff members of being linked to terror organizations, but an independent‌ review found no supporting evidence for these⁢ claims. UNRWA maintains that it conducts thorough background checks ‌on all employees and ⁤shares staff lists with Israel.

Humanitarian Concerns in Gaza

The US ⁤humanitarian envoy to Gaza has ‌warned of a high⁢ risk of ‍famine, particularly⁢ in the northern region.⁣ Aid⁤ deliveries to Gaza have been‍ hindered, with Israel facing criticism for impeding the flow of essential supplies.

Efforts to Prevent Famine

Israel has ‍pledged to increase aid levels to ‌pre-war standards, with UNRWA reporting ⁣a recent uptick in aid deliveries. However, more action⁤ is needed to prevent a ⁣humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

UN Investigation and Staff Dismissals

A separate UN inquiry is ⁤investigating⁢ Israeli⁣ claims that 12 UNRWA staff members were involved in attacks on Israel. UNRWA has dismissed 10⁢ of the accused individuals‌ in response to these allegations.

President Biden signs the aid budget for Israel and Taiwan, effective immediately, triggering the resumption of delayed support from the US Department of Defense

CNN reported that a $95 billion military aid budget bill for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan was passed in the US Senate on the evening of the 23rd (local time) with 79 votes in favor to 18 against.

Once the budget bill is sent to President Joe Biden and goes through a signature process, it will take effect immediately.

President Biden has publicly stated that he will sign the budget bill immediately after it is sent, and the US Department of Defense has also been preparing to speed up long-delayed aid to Ukraine.

Accordingly, $61 billion worth of military aid to Ukraine is expected to be provided quickly. $26 billion will be provided to Israel and $8 billion will be provided to Taiwan.

The US House of Representatives previously passed these military aid budget bills last weekend and sent them to the Senate. Hardliners in the House of Representatives threatened to force Speaker Mark Johnson, who introduced the aid budget bill, to resign over his opposition to aid to Ukraine, but it passed easily thanks to the support of former US President Donald Trump to Speaker Mark Johnson.

Meanwhile, on this day, the Senate also passed a bill limiting the ownership of TikTok and strengthening sanctions on Russian assets.

Udinese | Balzaretti: “I thank Cioffi, but now let’s all save ourselves together”

The head of the technical area of the Friulians presented Cannavaro as the new coach of the Bianconeri. Here are his statements

Day of presentations at Udinese. On the sidelines of the press conference to present Fabio Cannavaro as Udinese’s new coach, the head of the Juventus technical area, Federico Balzaretti, also spoke and explained the decision to change technical leadership.

“I also add my thanks to Mister Cioffi and his staff. We are managers and we are here to make choices that are sometimes painful. After the defeat against Verona we met again and decided to focus on Cannavaro for the person he is and for what he can represent for kids. She has clear ideas and knows where and how to intervene. This clarity from him made us make this decision. We know his quality in terms of experience and charisma but we also know what he can bring in terms of ideas and courage. I also add myself to giving strength to what is the present, we have the responsibility to represent what is the history of this club. We need solidarity, unity, support and strength. The boys need it but also the coach. We are all saved together“.

On the choice of Pliers in the staff: “He knows the environment very well and he could be a facilitator for the inclusion of Cannavaro and his staff. Given the short timeframe, someone like that was needed. He had already worked on the staff, so it was easy.”
