Another problem is that the oxygen supply does not occur smoothly. Breathing only through your mouth reduces the efficiency of the exchange between oxygen and carbon dioxide. This reduces sleep quality and leads to fatigue. Concentration and memory may decrease. This is a problem for everyone, but caution is particularly important for growing teenagers because shallow sleep can have a negative impact on growth.

What can I do to avoid sleeping with my mouth open? First of all, anyone who suffers from sleep apnea or allergic diseases should actively treat them. If illness is not the cause, a lower pillow height may be helpful. Additionally, it is best to avoid alcohol and cigarettes and keep indoor humidity at 40-60% by using wet towels and humidifiers.
