The Domestic Poultry Festival, organized for the 20th time this year by the Çorlu Domestic Poultry Association, was held at the Closed Tuesday Market. The fair, which women and children entered free of charge, attracted great attention. Approximately 119 breeds, 1250 pigeons, 250 ornamental chickens and roosters, budgies, breed dogs, hawks and eagles took part in the festival. At the festival, which attracted great attention, pigeons ranging from 50 lira to 150 thousand lira and chickens ranging from 1000 lira to 15 thousand lira were sold.

Çorlu Domestic Poultry Association President Necmi Acar stated that the festival is international and said, “There are people coming from different parts and regions of Turkey. We have participants coming from abroad, Poland, Greece and Bulgaria. When you look at the density this year, this is obvious from the hall.

There are currently over 1000 birds competing. In today’s conditions, it starts from 50 lira and it is very difficult to estimate upwards. In other words, the price depends on the bird and is determined by the enthusiast and the buyer.

Curiosity is increasing day by day. I have been feeding birds for 45 years, like us, the middle ages are a little more curious. We want young people to come after us. Our festival consists of two parts. “There is a racing and a sales part,” he said.

Stating that he has been following the festival since it first started, Erkan Şahin said, “This festival is actually a very different festival. I have been looking after birds for 25 years, it is a very different passion. That’s why I participate every year. Each of the birds that come are more beautiful than the other.”
