Representing the President of the Olympic Committee, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, the Vice President of the Committee, Dr. Sari Hamdan, opened today the activities of the third season of the Dead Sea International Conference.
In its third season, over the course of two days, the conference highlights scientific developments in healthy and competitive sports, with broad international and local participation, organized by the Faculty of Sports Sciences at the University of Jordan and in cooperation with the Olympic Committee.
Acting President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Ashraf Abu Karaki, said that organizing this conference, in cooperation between the university and the Jordanian Olympic Committee, constitutes a unification of efforts and a culmination of the relationship aimed at the excellence of students and athletes, and an emphasis on the importance of keeping up with all the latest developments and the most important developments in sports and its sciences.
Abu Karaki added that holding the conference constitutes a continuation of the long human achievement of the University of Jordan, which has always linked the mind to the body, realizing that education is more complex than an academic subject that students receive, but rather a process that includes a lot of data.
Abu Karaki stressed the pride of the University of Jordan in being an extension of the visions of the comprehensive royal leadership of the nation in its various sectors, especially sports. The university provided annual sports scholarships to support outstanding students who bring pride to us and the entire country at the local, Arab and international levels.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Sports Sciences, Dr. Hassan Al-Saud, said that the university has sought, since its founding, to give sports a major priority, so it established the College of Sports Sciences, which took upon itself the advancement of sports and athletes, equipping them with the theoretical and practical knowledge they need, and building the Jordanian person in a healthy physical and mental structure according to the latest technologies. Regarding the contents of the conference, Al-Saud said that the study of “scientific developments in healthy and competitive sports” comes to serve the sustainable development goals that the whole world seeks to achieve, with the participation of an elite group of professors and people with experience, scientific research, and a distinguished academic reputation, to spread their minds and experience for the benefit of science and people.
Al-Saud expressed his hope that sports in Jordan will reach what we hope for, and that Jordan’s name will remain high on international podiums.
The conference represents an opportunity for all researchers and specialists from different countries of the world in sports sciences, physical activity and motor skills, and aims to enhance communication and exchange of scientific experiences in various specializations.
