Asked by a reporter whether the strikes are producing results, Biden replied: “When do you say ‘work?’ Are they stopping the Houthis?” No. Will they continue? Yes.”

The US carried out renewed attacks against the Houthis on Thursday, said John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

“We did it again this morning, targeting a couple of anti-ship missiles that we had reason to believe were being prepared for an imminent launch into the southern Red Sea,” Kirby told reporters.

Yemeni rebels have carried out several missile and drone attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea and the Strait of Babelmandeb in recent months. The rebels say they are attacking ships bound for Israel and are demanding that Israel end the war in Gaza.

Due to the Houthi attacks, many major shipping companies have abandoned their voyages in the Red Sea and diverted their ships to other routes.

In December, a U.S.-led international military mission was launched in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to protect commercial shipping.

The United States and Britain have carried out attacks on multiple rebel-linked targets in many parts of Yemen.
