Bendika and Rastorgujev took fifth place in the mixed pair relay of the PK stage in biathlon

In the 25 duet competitions, the Norwegians were second with eight shooting errors and lost to Germany with 11.2 seconds, third – with four spare cartridges used – were the Austrians (+28.3).

In fourth place was Italy, which also measured the penalty circle without six shooting errors, just 1.2 seconds ahead of Latvia, while Finland, which made seven shooting errors (+41.4), was in the top six behind Latvia landed.

This season was the only time the mixed relays were held in the first stage, with the home team’s Sebastian Samuelson and Hanna Eberja winning the mixed doubles relay in Esteshund. Rastorgujev and Annie Kate Sabule took 20th place.

At the end of last season, Bendika and Rastorgujev won bronze in this discipline.

The mixed relay starts at 3:45 p.m. and Latvia will be represented by Sabule, Sanita Buliņa, Renārs Birkentāls and Edgars Mise.

The only mixed relay of the season was won by the French Kentin Fillon-Mayet, Emilien Jacquelin, Justine Breza-Bouchet and Lou Jeanmont. The Latvian quartet, consisting of Sanita and Sandra Buliņas as well as Birkentāls and Aleksandrs Patrijuks, took 17th place.

On Sunday the stage ends with a distance race with a common start. Rastorgujev has qualified for them, and Birkenthal is a long way off.

From January 21st to 28th the European Championships will take place on the Slovak track in Osrblí, from February 7th to 18th the World Championships will take place in the Czech city of Nove Mesto, while the next stage of the World Cup will take place in Oslo at the turn of February/ March.

The World Cup series includes nine rounds this season, with the Crystal Globes being awarded at the Canadian Kenmore circuit in mid-March.
