Russia stationed its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus last year. True, it is not known how much. These weapons are intended for use on the battlefield. Their range is short and their performance is also relatively low.

“We clearly express Belarus’ views on the use of tactical nuclear weapons stationed in our country,” Hrenin said at a meeting of Belarus’ Security Council.
“A new chapter has appeared in which we clearly define our obligations to those we have as allies,” the minister said.
The doctrine will be submitted for approval to the All-Belarus People’s Assembly, a representative body that operates in parallel with parliament.
As Belarusian Security Council Secretary Aleksandrs Volfovichs claimed, the purpose of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons is to deter aggression from Poland.
“Unfortunately, the statements of our neighbors, especially Poland, have forced us to strengthen military doctrine,” Wołfowicz said.
