Åmunnsen started the race four seconds behind the previous leader, his compatriot Erik Valnes, whom he overtook at the finish with a lead of 32.9 seconds and finished in 52 minutes and 38 seconds. The fastest step in the distance and third place went to another Norwegian, Jan Thomas Jensen, who finished the stage one minute and 4.6 seconds after Åmunnsen.
The best of the rest – the Swede William Poroma – lost three tenths of a second to the top three, as did the Norwegian Martin Levström Ninget. Leading British skier Andrew Musgrave, a teammate of Patricia Eiduk, withdrew due to illness.
In the overall ranking, the difference between the athletes is the same as in the competition on Sunday.
Cross-country skiers, including Eiduka, will also start in the pursuit on Sunday.
Continuing, on January 3rd and 4th in Davos the sprint freestyle and pursuit in the classic style will take place, and on January 6th and 7th in Valdifjemme cross-country skiers will compete in distances with a common start of 15 kilometers in the classic and ten kilometers against each other for kilometers in freestyle.
In the second half of January, the World Cup stages will be held on the Oberhof track in Germany and the Goms area in Switzerland, and in February the competition will be held in North America – in the city of Kenmore, Canada and further the Minneapolis track in the USA .
