What do you know about Al-Sougra village?

It is located in the northern part of Jabal Al Akhdar.

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said on its official website that the village is estimated to be more than 450 years old and is about 1,900 meters above sea level.

It is isolated from the rest of the villages of Jabal Al Akhdar, which gives it a special location in terms of peace and relaxation.

With the aim of reviving the ancestral heritage in the Omani village, people decided to preserve and rebuild the old houses and not let them be abandoned and forgotten, according to the Omani Ministry of Information website.

The old houses, which have become special kind of inns, attract many guests, especially from outside the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism revealed that the hostel consists of 11 rooms. The people of the region also offer local dishes from Omani cuisine that suit the tastes of tourists.

The ministry hopes to meet the desires of tourists seeking authentic Omani tourism experiences.

The aim is for this village to be a model that can be copied in other governorates that have unique features and topography.

Would you like to visit it?

The Omani photographer said in an interview with CNN Arabic: “You reach it via a dirt road that branches off the paved road for a distance of four and a half kilometers.”

In fact, the village is considered a year-round destination for many tourists as the climate is mild in summer and cold in winter.

Many seasonal fruits grow in the country, such as pomegranates, grapes, walnuts, apricots and peaches, according to the Omani Ministry of Information website.
