The former West Java governor believes that the topic of the third debate, which will be held on January 7, 2024, will be beneficial to presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto due to his experience with his military background.

Furthermore, the position of Defense Minister that Prabowo currently holds will make him even stronger and dictate the course of the debate. “The defense and security debate is certainly Pak Prabowo’s strength,” he said.
However, he added that the results of the debate would not necessarily mean that undecided voters, who make up 6 to 7 percent, would make their choice immediately.
The task of the candidate couples and the KPU as election organizers is only to ensure that the number of white groups (abstentions) is as low as possible in order to open up the possibility that the 2024 presidential election can take place in a single round.
“There are always voters who are undecided until the last second, that’s normal. They are the group that decides at the TPS (polling station). The task of the candidate pairs and the KPU is to ensure that the number of abstentions is as low as possible, so that a round is quite possible,” said Ridwan Kamil.

Indonesia’s General Election Commission (KPU) has received the registration of three presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
The election campaign period is from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, with the vote scheduled for February 14, 2024.
The third debate of the presidential candidates for the 2024 election touched on topics related to defense, security, international relations and geopolitics.
The KPU held the first presidential debate for the 2024 election on December 12 at the Indonesian KPU office in Jakarta. The topics of the first presidential debate were government, law, human rights (HAM), eliminating corruption, strengthening democracy, improving public services and civil peace.
On December 22, KPU held the second debate for vice presidential candidates for the 2024 election at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Jakarta, covering economics, digital economy, finance, investment, tax, trade, APBN and APBD management, infrastructure and urban areas .
The debate series for the 2024 presidential election is scheduled to take place three more times, namely on January 7, 2024, January 21, 2024 and February 4, 2024. (ant)
