Kompas Research and Development worked with the National Police to conduct a survey on the quality of implementation of embedded supervision (waskat) conducted by the National Police at the level of all regional units (satwil). Therefore, the majority of the population is satisfied with the performance of the state police.

According to Kompas Research and Development, the scope of the research focused on five aspects of Waskat, both in prevention and advice and follow-up of violations by members of the National Police. However, the quality of implementation of Waskat within the national police institution will be reflected in the main tasks and functions, which include law enforcement, law enforcement, law and order, and community protection, service and leadership.

This community survey was conducted in person from October 22 to November 15, 2023. The survey was conducted on 100 respondents for each regional police district, with a total of 3,400 respondents coming from the general public, showing very positive results in the performance of the state police.

Respondents were randomly selected using a multistage systematic sampling method in 34 provinces. The confidence level is 90 percent, the margin of error for research in each Polda area is approximately 8.22 percent under simple random sampling conditions. However, errors outside of sample selection are possible.

“On average, no less than 87.8 percent of the public expressed satisfaction with the performance of the National Police. The National Police’s performance in serving the public received the highest level of appreciation. It was found that nine out of ten respondents agreed to express their satisfaction with the services provided by the National Police to the community,” wrote Kompas Research and Development as quoted detikcomTuesday (December 26, 2023).

Not much different: the state police’s tasks in maintaining security and order are also viewed very positively by the public. More than 89 percent of respondents agreed that they were satisfied with the state police’s efforts to maintain security and order.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies also received good response from the public. At least four fifths of those surveyed were very satisfied with the prosecution by the police.

Kompas Research and Development stated that the high number of public recognitions for evaluating police performance is evidence that Polri’s commitment to providing Polri personnel who maintain professionalism continues to be implemented.

“What is reflected in the performance of the State Police should also be an acknowledgment that the improvement efforts, including the internal monitoring of the institution, have gone well. In addition, the results of the public survey also illustrate the monitoring carried out to prevent and prosecute violations by “police members, which is reflected, among other things, in the service they provide in response to public complaints,” he said.

The survey also includes questions about public complaints. When asked how the public can report a violation by the police, the majority of respondents, 68.7 percent, said that a report could be made directly to the police.

“In the model answer multiple answerIn addition to contacting the police department directly, around a fifth of those surveyed also respond to complaints through the service call center National Police. “Then, around 16.8 percent of respondents chose to file complaints through social media,” he said.

Kompas Research and Development explained the results of this community survey and also provided guidance on a number of aspects of the member breach complaint services that need to be improved. Response to complaints and easy access to complaint services received the most attention from around two-fifths of community respondents. In addition, another third of the population hopes for improvements in the transparency of the complaint process.

“In this case, in addition to easy access at the start of the complaints process, the public appears to expect that the complaints process can continue to be well informed and open. However, public appreciation is generally relatively high, reaching no less than 85 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the violations of the Complaints Office by members of the National Police,” he said.
