7 tips for living a longer life (and avoiding inflammation)

Scientists are clear: to age in good health and improve your life expectancy, it is imperative to avoid generalized inflammation of the body. This phenomenon would in fact be a contributing factor for many health concerns – cardiovascular disorders, senile dementia, loss of muscle mass, repeated bacterial and viral infections, etc.

To limit the risk of developing this famous generalized inflammation of the body, the University of Birmingham (in Great Britain) offers 7 tips that are not difficult to apply on a daily basis:

Move as often as possible

In addition to being excellent for the figure as well as for preventing many cardiovascular diseases (type 2 diabetes, for example), physical activity also helps reduce inflammation in the body. Researchers at the University of Birmingham recommend getting at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each week.

Monitor your weight

Excess fat mass promotes generalized inflammation in the body. Indeed, adipose tissues naturally produce pro-inflammatory cytokines. British researchers therefore recommend adopting a varied and balanced diet to reduce this phenomenon.

Eat more fruits and vegetables

It’s proven: the Mediterranean diet (which emphasizes fruits and vegetables, and especially green leafy vegetables like spinach or kale) reduces markers of inflammation in the body.

Limit ultra-processed products

Jarred sauces, vacuum-packed sandwiches, ready-made salads, tray dishes, etc. are not good for your health and, on the contrary, promote the development of pro-inflammatory oxidative stress.

Learn to manage your stress

According to British researchers, stress (especially when it becomes chronic, that is to say recurring in everyday life) promotes the synthesis of hormones that generate persistent inflammation. To better manage this anxiety on a daily basis, scientists particularly recommend outdoor activities (hiking, walking, etc.) and mindful meditation.

Take care of your social life

Isolation is, according to researchers at the University of Birmingham, a factor promoting premature aging of the body and generalized inflammation. They therefore advise us to take care of our social relationships and (for example) to spend more time with family.

Take food supplements

According to British researchers, omega-3, curcumin, resveratrol, vitamin C, vitamin D, magnesium and probiotics help fight generalized inflammation in the body. But be careful: before starting a course of food supplements, medical advice is still necessary!

David Costa: “Unthinkable that in 2024 we will still die of measles”

#David #Costa #Unthinkable #die #measles

Doctor David Costa, general practitioner and director of the university department of general medicine at the Faculty of Medicine is organizing a conference on vaccination this Friday in Nîmes. History of fighting against misinformation on the subject and answering all your questions.

In 2024, are you still experiencing patient reluctance regarding vaccination?

Yes and that’s saying something. Many of them are worried because of the fake news circulating about vaccination. Some of which do not date from yesterday. We remember in France the worry of developing multiple sclerosis following a vaccine against Hepatitis B, in England, patients were afraid of becoming autistic after the injection… This is why This sometimes adds to a lack of time on the part of the healthcare professional and the general practitioner, who, due to lack of time during consultations, forgets to make points on their patient’s vaccination record. All in all, vaccination is not optimal in France.

Recently we have also witnessed an epidemic of measles and it seems that cases of whooping cough have also increased in France since last January?

Yes, I myself have seen two patients suffering from measles at the office since the start of the year. Who were not vaccinated. Not long ago, a young girl died in our country from this disease. It’s unthinkable! The only way to make a disease disappear is to vaccinate the population. It is not said that vaccinated people never develop the disease in the event of contamination. But as with Covid, the effects will be much less serious and dangerous for survival. For example with measles, we see unvaccinated patients who develop the first symptoms and who a few weeks after recovery develop measles meningitis. A very serious complication!

While whooping cough and measles are among the mandatory vaccines!

Yes, measles is administered to babies aged 12 months, whooping cough from three months. And if in an adult this last disease is extremely annoying and causes coughing fits for three months, in an infant it is very serious. The child was immediately hospitalized in intensive care and the outcome was uncertain.

What do you think of the government’s desire to vaccinate all college students against the Papillomavirus?

I think it’s obviously important. But the poor scores encountered by this initiative are due to a lack of communication about the virus. Many imagine that this virus only affects women who are more likely to develop uterine cancer later. While men are just as likely to suffer from throat cancer, for example in the event of contamination with the Papillomavirus. For it to disappear, boys and girls must be vaccinated.

What do you expect from Friday’s conference?

I will speak with my colleague Eric Shwartzentruber, the doctor in charge of the departmental vaccination center. We hope to remove preconceived ideas, deny fake news and above all answer all the questions that the public, which we hope will be numerous, will want to ask us on this subject.

See you this Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m. at the Carré d’Art auditorium in Nîmes. FREE ENTRANCE.

Blackberry to improve sexual performance

Every time we talk about fruits and vegetables, they are related to a healthy diet due to the great properties that these natural products have.

The Mayo Clinic Institute focuses on these foods and all those that have a positive impact on health and points out that they should be one of the parts of a lifestyle that seeks a good present and future condition.

Within the broad field covered by the benefits of consuming fruits and vegetables, there are mainly those that have to do with the prevention of certain diseases, the correct functioning of the systems that intervene in the functioning of the body and, about which we will talk, the sexual performance.

Mayo Clinic states that it is natural for men to notice a gradual reduction in their sexual desire (libido) as they age. However, at younger ages, performance during sex may perhaps be diminished and the factors may be many. In this regard, there is a fruit that is considered an aphrodisiac and one of the best allies for moments of intimacy.

This fruit has more protein than other natural products

The blackberry is native to tropical areas of the American continent, but over the years its cultivation spread to different corners of the world.

According to the Spanish Nutrition Foundation (FEN), this food is rich in vitamins C and E, fiber and folates, which allows it to have antioxidant properties that reduce the chances of suffering from heart-related diseases.

On the other hand, it helps improve sexual desire thanks to its high content of phytochemicals that prolong the duration of sexual moments.

This is also highlighted by a study from the University of Guelph in Canada, which in one study specifies that its effects occur specifically on the organs involved in sexual activity. This means that incorporating this fruit into your diet produces positive hormonal changes and improves erection, in addition to increasing blood flow. Now, all that remains is to try them and enjoy their benefits.
