So far, the heavy rains have resulted in two sub-districts being flooded and hundreds of residents reportedly being evacuated.

Based on data from Makassar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), two points were affected, namely Manggala Village and Tamangapa Village, Manggala District and Biringkanaya District.

“Yes, that’s right, for the flood-affected areas in Manggala, there are two sub-districts and Biringkanaya district,” said Achmad Hendra Hakamuddin, head of BPBD Makassar CNNIndonesia.comThursday (January 18th).

Achmad said the number of flood-affected residents in these two sub-districts has now reached 400 people, forcing residents to be evacuated. The reason for this is that the water level reaches 100 centimeters.

“Based on the available data from the two sub-districts affected by the flood, 482 people with 131 Heads of Family (KK) were displaced. The average water level was between 30, 40 and around 100 centimeters,” said Achmad Hendra.

As a result of this annual disaster, Achmad said his party has set up several evacuation points around the flood site.

“Currently, nine evacuation points have been set up in two sub-districts where flooding occurred. Manggala district has most of the evacuation points set up,” he said.

Currently, Achmad said his party has distributed relief materials to flood-affected communities in Manggala and Biringkanaya districts.
