The foundations for the future of the Papierwerd area are to be worked out in the “Forum Papierwerd” dialogue process. 55 professionals take part.
The “Forum Papierwerd” starts on Monday evening under the direction of the Office for Urban Development: 55 experts from various disciplines, representatives of politics, clubs, organizations and associations as well as residents develop the basis for the future of the Papierwerd area with a provisional globe.
According to a statement, they will be answering questions about the future importance of the Papierwerd area, how it can be built on and how it should be used in two full-day workshops in alternating composition. Together they develop and discuss ideas and approaches for the scenarios “existing”, “new building” and “space” as well as combinations thereof.
«The dialogue process is at the heart of the strategy process»
In doing so, the participants take various framework conditions into account. One of them is the condition of the building. The architectural significance of the building must also be taken into account. “Even if the Globus provisional is not a listed building, the building is definitely relevant in terms of architecture, urban planning and social history,” says Hochbauvosteher André Odermatt.
The results of the forum form the basis of the City Council’s strategy for the site. In the area around the main station and the Central, the city is developing a “master plan HB/Central”. The approaches from this overarching view should flow into the discussions in the “Forum Papierwerd”. “The dialogue process is at the heart of the strategy process. We would like to have a broad debate with the interest groups and the population about the possible scenarios for the Papierwerd area,” says Mayor Corine Mauch.
